Awesome Promoting!

Tropic Thunder is coming and its promotion is brilliant. The MTV Movie Awards had this skit to promote the movie this summer. I will probably go see it because 1) it has Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downing, Jr. 2) this promotion clip below and 3) Robert Downy, Jr. is black. Yes, they paint him brown and he plays a black guy. I can't miss that!

Some Summer Movies...

I had a triple feature night last week. I saw Kung Fu Panda, The Incredible Hulk, and The Happening (in that order).

As sad as it sounds, I think I enjoyed Kung Fu Panda the best. It was funny and cute. It had that Pixar-appeal. You know, great for kids, but still entertaining for adults. The voices were great; lots of good, big name actors. Even though some of them didn't talk much (like Jackie Chan who said like two phrases), it still brought something forward for the movie. I recommend seeing the movie.

Now I would rank The Hulk second in this trio. [SPOILER] I liked the movie, but only because I kind of knew what to expect. Superhero-acting, over-the-top action and some dang ridiculous dialogue. The Hulk head was WAY too small, as well. But Edward Norton made a better Bruce and the intertwining of Iron Man at the end will hopefully make for a great combined superhero movie (one day).

The worst of the trio was The Happening. After seeing this movie, my suspicion that M. Night is on a slippery slide downward is confirmed. The movie was bizarre and it felt more like a Stephen King-based movie. There was no real catch like his other mind-benders. I mean, there might have been a catch except you never know what is going on AND you never find out! It was frustrating and it left me with a weird, unnerving feeling. Not like a curious, Donnie Darko unnerving feeling. This one was unpleasant. I do not recommend this movie to anyone.

Viva La Vida (Cold Play)

I'm about to do one of those humbling things that makes you look like an idiot. For years, I have harped on Cold Play for being a band for girls. Rush of Blood to the Head was good, but it didn't convince me. Then the X&Y album just convinced me that they were a band for girls only. Now after their latest album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, I have to take back everything mean I ever said. I used to say they were gay (even with the fact that they made an appearance in one of my all-time favorite movies, Shaun of the Dead), but I want to officially apologize. This new album "fixes me," and has changed my whole perception on Cold Play.

The new album is great! Here's a review from a blog I like that summed up the new album really well. Scooter McGavin's 9th Green.

Numb Nut?

Ouch!

You'll Love This!

From my friends at Neatorama, a video poking fun at the new California law of making it illegal to talk on your hand held cellphone while driving. This is a must see!

Goodbye Tim Russert, You'll Be Missed

Today, Tim Russert from Meet the Press and many other political medias passed away at age 58 from a massive heart attack. He will be missed.

Drive by Incubus (Acoustic)

I had the chance to see Incubus live at the Red Rocks Amphitheater about a year ago with my good friend Haley. This has been one of my favorite songs of theirs and I thought the acoustic version was pretty cool.

Nightline's Feature of Improv Everywhere

Nightline did a short 4 minute segment on the brains behind Improv Everywhere. It shows short clips of all the most popular "missions" of Improv Everywhere.

Improv Everwhere: Suicide Jumper

This is kinda dumb, but I think it's a little bit funny.

Improv Everwhere: Best Buy

I was there for this! haha. So clever.

Question by Old 97's

This is a good song.

I couldn't find a good one.

And a Really Bad Cover:

The Colbert Report: Hillary and Obama

This show is so funny! Stephen Colbert is brilliant and is always able to make me laugh. This particular episode is about Hillary backing down from the Presidency to support Obama, and about Southern heritage.

Geek Awesome-ness

Some geek programmed an old floppy disk drive to play one of the Star Wars songs. It is as awesome as it is geeky.

Album Cover Art Mayhem

I found this video that Ugly Pictures directed and had animated by Man v.s Magnet. It is pretty gruesome and has some glimpses of racy album art, but the idea is awesome. So only watch this if you dare.

Danna's Post About Me

I think Danna likes me. She talks me up way too much, too. I hope I'm not a total flop when we get married. lol Here's her engagement memory unfolded:

Comics Today #87

I'm engaged!

Last Thursday, May 29, I flew to Pacific City, Oregon to surprise my girlfriend with a ring. Her Dad and two brothers picked me up (thank you), and took me directly to the beach to write, "Will you marry me?" in the sand. As I sat on some random drift wood and waited, I thought about what I was doing. I was ridiculously nervous, but I knew what I was doing. I was doing the right thing. I have never felt so excited and happy before.

When Danna finally arrived (20 minutes later), she began to walk down towards the beach
with everyone in her family. She had no idea what was about to happen. She thought I was busy at work in Utah. She finally recognized me and ran to me, but not before dropping her $400 camera in the sand. We hugged and then I pointed out the lettering in the sand as I knelt down on one knee. She put her hands over her mouth! I opened the ring box and asked if she would marry me. She said, "Yes, yes!" We kissed and got engaged. I think I speak for her as well when I say that neither of us have ever been so happy.
