Lakers vs. Celtics Showdown

Here's an interview I found featuring the Lakers leader Kobe Bryant. In this interview he answers questions of last summer, his desire to get traded from the Lakers, being compared to Michael Jordan, and his plans and mentality for the finals.

March Madness Update

I'm currently #2 with my bracket in this year's pool I'm playing in, but I'm staying optimistic. The current #1 guy has Duke going to the finals. Haha. My final four teams are still in it. Go Texas, UNC, UCLA, and Kansas. I have UNC winning it all and with their 100 point plus games, it is looking good.

I'm not too worried about the UNC vs. Louisville match-up or the Davidson/Wisconsin vs. Kansas match-up, but I am a little worried about the UCLA vs. Xavier match-up and the South section's Elite Eight possibilities. I'm thinking the South will have Texas and....this is tough....Memphis. Memphis and Michigan State are a toss up. Memphis, I feel, is overrated and didn't play like a #1 seed against Mississippi State. Michigan State is playing like true underdog, and beat a very good Pittsburgh team. In the west, Xavier is doing very well and they might have a chance against a relatively unchallenged UCLA team. As nice as it'd be to have a team like Xavier go to the final four, I'm going to pull for UCLA because of my bracket. Sorry Xavier!

Go Tar Heels!

March Madness 2008 - My predictions

It's that time again! Is there anything more exciting in the world of sports than March Madness?

Here my bracket this year. Last year I ranked #2 out of the largest Facebook group (woop woop). It's a shame I didn't put money down last year, because I would've made a quite the sum. Last year, the top-seeded teams played the whole tournament like top-seeded teams. Hopefully this year will be like the last.

The upsets I'm calling in the first round are:

(9) Arkansas over (8) Indiana
(9) Kent State over (8) UNLV
(10) Davidson over (7) Gonzaga
(12) Western Kentucky over (5) Drake
(11) Baylor over (6) Purdue

The second round upsets are:

(5) Notre Dame over (4) Washington State
(7) West Virginia over (2) Duke

My Elite Eight are:

(4) Pitt.
(2) Texas
(1) UCLA
(3) Xavier
(1) UNC
(2) Tennessee
(1) Kansas
(2) Georgetown

The Final Four will be:

Texas, UNC, Kansas and UCLA

The finals will be an exciting match-up between Love and Hansbourgh with the UNC Tar Heels beating the UCLA Bruins in a very close 2nd half.

Semi-Disappointed

Semi-Pro, from what I heard, was going to rank somewhere in between Anchorman and Talladega Nights. I didn't think it got close. (Will Ferrell movie rankings)

Now I hesitate to say that, and I'm embarrassed to this: I didn't like Anchorman at first. Most of Will Ferrell's movies take time to grow on me. Usually, I think the movie is only mediocre, but after a second or third viewing, I fall in love. But I don't think that is going to happen with this one.

First off, its R when all the other Ferrell classics are PG-13. The reason for that is the "F" word. They did not use it sparingly in Semi-Pro. There were also some overly crude parts.

The worst part of it all is it wasn't that funny. I laughed throughout the movie, but the quality of humor in Semi-Pro doesn't match or even compare to that of Anchorman or Talladega Nights. It was sad and disappointing.

(I did like that Andre 3000 was in this movie though!)

Blue Steel Baby!

Oh yeah, that's right. Ben Stiller still has it. Stiller's famous role of Zoolander lives on off-the-screen.

Michael Jordan's Advice for the NBA

Jordan, the greatest basketball player ever, was asked by ESPN what the NBA should do about their image problem. Jordan has a great answer.

Jordan vs. Kobe

The All-star game in 1998 featured a fun match-up between the great Micheal Jordan vs. the recently great Kobe Bryant.

I think people forget these two actually went head-to-head. I hear a lot of people claim Kobe is better than Jordan, but honestly, I think their memory has faded. You can watch these 2 clips of both of these guys going at it.

Now you can argue that Kobe was still new and fresh against a seasoned star as Jordan, but the same arguement can be said about Jordan being on the downside of his pinnacle.

I think the fact that Jordan is the best basketball player ever will always stand even against today's greats such as Kobe, Dirk, LeBron, Durrant, and all the others stars.
