2010 NCAA Football Predictions - Week 2

Week 2 is here!  What a week of games!  This will be a really fun Saturday.  I'll be watching South Carolina beat Georgia, Miami losing to Ohio St., and Florida State barely beating Oklahoma.

  1. No. 21 Auburn over Mississippi State- Auburn is supposed to contend in the SEC this year, and this is the first conference game.  So they should roll over Miss. St.
  2. No. 23 West Virginia over Marshall
  3. San Jose State loses to No. 11 Wisconsin-  This isn't much of a contest.  Wisconsin wins easily.
  4. No. 15 Georgia Tech over Kansas- There aren't many teams that can stop GT's running game.  I mean, how do you only throw like 2 passes and still win a game?
  5. No. 22 Georgia loses to No. 24 South Carolina- Georgia is missing their top receiver and has a freshman quarterback that has never played a SEC game.  And in a series with the winner only winning by a few points; what do you think is going to happen?
  6. South Florida loses No. 8 Florida- After a rough start, Florida gets it together to beat South Florida.  But it won't be a blowout.
  7. Idaho loses to No. 6 Nebraska- How embarrassing will this game be for Idaho?
  8. James Madison loses to No. 13 Virginia Tech- They are probably pretty pissed about last week and poor James Madison will probably have that anger taken out on them.
  9. Iowa State loses to No. 9 Iowa- I think it will be closer than most think.
  10. No. 17 Florida State over No. 10 Oklahoma- This could go anyway.  On paper, I think Oklahoma should win this, but I think Ponder and the rest of the Noles somehow get the W.
  11. Michigan loses to Notre Dame- The used-to-be-dynasties hash it out and the Irish end up on top.
  12. No. 12 Miami (FL) loses to No. 2 Ohio State- I hate Ohio St. but I just don't think Miami is polished enough to beat this Buckeyes team.
  13. UNLV loses to No. 20 Utah
  14. No. 18 Penn State loses to No. 1 Alabama- Even without last year's Heisman's winner, Bama will take advantage of the Nittany Lions inexperience.
  15. Tennessee Tech loses to No. 4 TCU
  16. No. 7 Oregon beats Tennessee- This is going to sad to watch.  Oregon is flying high and Tennessee doesn't have a chance.
  17. No. 14 Arkansas destroys Louisiana-Monroe
  18. No. 19 LSU over Vanderbilt- LSU barely survived UNC last week, but this contest should be easier to handle.
  19. Virginia barely loses to No. 16 USC- I think USC would lose if the game was in Tennessee, but because Vandy is going so far into new territory, they barely lose.
  20. No. 25 Stanford edges UCLA

2010 NCAA Football Predictions

Preseason predictions are so much fun!  Everyone is estimating and guessing who they think will have the endurance and passion to make it to the National Championship.  Here are a couple stories I've enjoyed while basking in all the preseason fiestities:

Year 6 at SCAR for the Ol' Ball Coach
Repeat?
Heisman?
Undefeated?
Heisman?
Heisman? Probably not.
Clemson should just go ahead and come up with their lame excuses for this year.

    March Madness Update

I'm currently #2 with my bracket in this year's pool I'm playing in, but I'm staying optimistic. The current #1 guy has Duke going to the finals. Haha. My final four teams are still in it. Go Texas, UNC, UCLA, and Kansas. I have UNC winning it all and with their 100 point plus games, it is looking good.

I'm not too worried about the UNC vs. Louisville match-up or the Davidson/Wisconsin vs. Kansas match-up, but I am a little worried about the UCLA vs. Xavier match-up and the South section's Elite Eight possibilities. I'm thinking the South will have Texas and....this is tough....Memphis. Memphis and Michigan State are a toss up. Memphis, I feel, is overrated and didn't play like a #1 seed against Mississippi State. Michigan State is playing like true underdog, and beat a very good Pittsburgh team. In the west, Xavier is doing very well and they might have a chance against a relatively unchallenged UCLA team. As nice as it'd be to have a team like Xavier go to the final four, I'm going to pull for UCLA because of my bracket. Sorry Xavier!

    Go Tar Heels!

    Go UNC

The Big Dance is on the brink of arrival. The headlights crest the hill. Dick is annoying as ever.

Arguably, this month is the most exciting month in sports because of the NCAA Basketball National Championship. And this year, like most years, since the Gamecocks are not going to make it to the tourney, I'm going to pull for my upstairs neighbors.

You'd think South Carolina and North Carolina would be heated rivals, but this is not so. We are not in the same conference (SCAR- SEC and UNC- ACC). We actually never play each other in anything. Occasionally, we play them in football, but they suck in football so it's never a big deal. Our rival is Clemson (and I hate them more than bin Laden) and UNC's rival is Duke.
This year's UNC team is great (like normal) featuring Ty Lawson and Tyler Hansbrough. Both of these guys are relentlessly tough athletes. They play with passion and are experienced. They are going to be a fun team to watch. Tyler seems to be a magnet for hard fouls and rough double teams, but nothing stops him. And I'd like to see anyone try and keep up with Ty Lawson; he is speedy. This is going to be a good year for March Madness.

Three College Football Myths to Stay Away From

This ESPN article talks about some major problems the NCAA doesn't seem to be dealing with as well as they could. Dumping the BCS for tournament-style? Coaching jobs? And the problem with Heisman voting. (Some of the voters don't even vote!) This is a great article. I love the way he describes the inability of the BCS.
