Cloverfield

Woah.

This movie was amazing and super engaging. This style of filming, the viewpoint of a hand-held camcorder, is wild. I am having a hard time collecting my thoughts today so I am just going to list my thoughts on this movie.

  • If you get motion sick easy, wait until it comes out on DVD and watch it in pieces. It'll be so worth it.
  • Kings of Leon have 2 songs in the party scene in the beginning! Kings of Leon are the best! (Download On Call, Molly's Chambers, or Fans)
  • I loved the ambiguity. You know nothing the WHOLE time.
  • I really liked the way they developed the characters in the beginning. It was like they weren't even trying to build the characters. It really felt like a normal home-video.
  • It was short. If that movie was any longer, people would've been having seizures in the aisles.
  • The language was not that bad. It was there when it was appropriate, and not when it was unneeded.
  • The monster did not look like Godzilla. Thank you! It resembled the whole Godzilla theme enough. If it looked anymore like Godzilla, I would kung fu-ed J. J. Abrams. (see below)
  • Speaking of J. J. Abrams, way to go J. J. That movie is just another notch on your belt. Congrats! When The Office starts back up again, please do another one!
  • I loved how I felt like I was controlling the camcorder the whole time. It really put you in the movie.

So my boys want to see this. Would you recommend me letting them? We all want to see it actually...even Gavin. Let me know what you think.

I would recommend it to anyone over 17 that does not get super motion-sick. This movie is pretty violent with some gruesome scenes with blood. It is also one of the most intense movies you'll ever see. It'll be way too intense for Gavin. But if you like intense movies with just a little bad language and a few bloody attacks by weird creature things, you'll love it! lol
